My Clothes Speak to Men For Me

(But I'm the Crazy Bitch)

My Clothes Speak to Men For Me (But I'm the Crazy Bitch)

A floral dress asked for:

               razor blade fingernails

               leaving cuts too shallow

to kill, too quick to heal

               for a promise of love

              (This was not love)

Tailored shorts asked for:

                sandpaper palms

                striking matchstick legs

I just want to feel your warmth

                feel my body ablaze

                with horror

Pyjamas asked for:

                blackmail breath

                peeling off layers

                with words alone

                leaving behind

                a girl of stone

What they really asked for:

                                             nothing.
