get it out
by Alexis Diano Sikorski
get it out
the ladies wait
and they tell me things
and i believe them.
they say the urge to claw
the urchin out
of my gut
will pass, and
i humor them.
this is
what it is
to give myself away
to be sucked away.
like this:
my body is
michael's craft day
alien goo
they all can touch,
change up with
cornstarch
and water, dye and
toothpaste, nail polish remover,—
hoping it does what
it's supposed to.
i watch as they
have me melt
into the role
of mother
(thick and sticky and permanent)
and am bitter
that the only thing left
of me is my face
and still
they say
it glows.

Alexis Diano Sikorski is a queer Filipina-American dog mom floating around DFW, Texas, and all she wants is a really good massage. You can find her work in TERSE., Burning House Press, The Collapsar, Moonchild Magazine, Vagabond City, Bombus Press, Queen Mobs Teahouse, and more. She's a bit melodramatic, reads way too much fanfiction, and likes looking out of airplane windows. There's a 98% chance she's daydreaming right now. @Sikorskidear
